Participants and criteria of
admittance
The Master is open to Italian and foreign
citizens holders of a degree; as an exception and subject
to assessment of the Selecting Committee, could participate
also persons without this qualification. Number of participants
is fixed to a maximum of 30.
The Selecting Committee could allow a limited number
of students (10 maximum) to follow only a few modules
of the programme of study.
Application forms, written on ordinary
paper and addressed to: Magnifico Rettore dell'Università

a) Application forms must carry:
- name, surname, address, e-mail address and telephone
number of applicants;
- substitute declaration which testifies the achievement
of the degree certificate, the kind of degree, date
and marks;
- curriculum vitae which includes job experiences, academic
or non academic qualifications, publications;
- photocopy of applicant's passport or identity card;
- a circumstantial letter which illustrates the reasons
why induced the applicant to choose this Master;
- photocopy of the RECEIPT OF PAYMENT OF A CONTRIBUTION
FOR THE ADMITTANCE TO THE ACADEMIC MASTER OF THE AMOUNT
OF € 50,00 (fifty/00) to be paid into the bank
current account of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena, registered
in the name of: Università degli Studi di Siena

"contributo di ammissione Master universitario

The amount will be deducted from the registration fee
to those who will enter the Master.
b) The Commission will examine activities and profile
of each applicant and draw up a list of the first 30
applicants; in case of withdrawals the applicants who
follow in the list will be admitted.
There will be the assessment (up to a maximum of 50
points):
- certificates regarding the knowledge of the English
language (up to 10 points)
- degree marks and average marks obtained in the subjects
consistent with Master teachings (up to 10 points)
- professional experience in fields relating human rights
and humanitarian action (up to 10 points)
- voluntary experiences in fields relating human rights
and humanitarian action (up to 10 points)
- publications consistent with human rights and humanitarian
action (up to 10 points)
The list will be published on the Master
website within January 10th. Enrolments must be done
within January 26th. From that day, still vacant places
will be assigned according to the list.
Applicants must demonstrate the knowledge
of the English and Italian language with a recognized
international certification. By request of the Selecting
Commission, applicants could be tested by the Linguistic
Laboratory of the University, which will also arrange
remedial linguistic courses.
At the end of each module, students
must take an exam on the work carried out. For those
who do not pass the exam there will be remedial opportunities.
At the end of lessons, students must take an internship
of at least 150 hours by an international organization,
an agency, a body, a centre of research that has among
its tasks also human rights.
Every student must propose a final dissertation which
will be assessed by a Commission established by the
Teaching Body.
Attendance is compulsory; attendance and getting through
of each course is equal to 2 credits; the internship
is 4 credits; the final dissertation 8 credits. Other
4 credits will be given for workshops. The academic
Master must have finally 80 credits.
The registration fee is established
in 4.500 Euro, to be paid with a single payment together
with the enrolment.
Since the academic Master belongs to the institutional
activity of the University and not to the commercial
one, the registration fee for the academic Master is
outside the field of VAT application. Therefore it is
not possible to issue any invoice.
Voluntary renunciation to studies, which must be justified
in any case, excludes the repayment of registration
fees at the academic Master.
Applicants resident in Tuscany
can require the repayment of the registration fee and
of incurred costs according to the established ways.

If there is the possibility of scholarships, informations
on them will be given as soon as possible and before
the beginning of courses on the Master website.
